LO4 : Final magazine pages

LO4 : Drafts of magazine (multiple pages)

Process of creating my contents page

Making my front page

Making my double page spread aswell as editing photos

LO4 : Sub editing task

From the feedback I've received from my (unfinished) article, I know that in order to correct my article I must complete my article, remember to use capital letters in my sentences and I need to check for spelling mistakes.

LO4 : Edited graphics (photos)

Editing a photo for my contents page

Before

Process of editing the photo

Here what im doing in this screenshot is changing the contrast. I chose to increase this in order to make the image more distinguishable in terms of the lighting as I believe that once I changed this it brightened up the image and gave objects such as the buildings and the trees more definition too them and made them stand out more.

In this screenshot I am changing the vibrancy and the saturation of the photo. I changed the vibrancy of the image in order to make some of the more muted and dull colours in the image stand out more. The reason I chose to also change the saturation is that I felt even after changing the vibrancy of the photo, it still seemed washed out and dull so I rose the saturation slightly in order to make all the colours in the image stand out and make the image less dull.

In this screenshot you can see that I am changing the curves of the image. I did this so i could change multiple aspects of the photo at once such as lighting and colour. The result of doing this was that I made the borders of the image slightly darker in order to draw the viewers attention to the centre off the image.

I am happy with the result i got after editing the photo. I believe the strengths of this image know is that it gives the image a lot more colour and definition to multiple objects around the image, overall giving the image more detail. I believe this still falls into the genre of my magazine which is a local Sheffield magazine as it shows off a key area of the Sheffield town centre.

The reason I made the edits to this photo were in order to have the model be the subject of the photo. I did this by increasing things such as vibrancy and contrast in order for washed out colours to stand out more and give the model more fidelity. I also lowered the brightness in order for the models face to be more noticeable.

What i wanted to achieve by editing this photo was i wanted to have the subject of the photo (my model) stand out more for the viewer. I did this by using tools such as vibrancy and contrast in order to have some of the more dull colours stand out and give the subject more definition.

LO3 : Setting up InDesign

I chose these measurements for my intro page and dps because when i looked at the magazine i was pastiching i measured out the width and height and used those measurements on my own page in order to have the pages turn out the same as the ones i was pastiching. I chose 4 columns as this allowed me to give equal spacing for my interview and helped me keep it in line with one another.
I chose these measurements for my front cover because when i looked at the magazine i was pastiching i measured out the width and height and used those measurements on my own page in order to have the pages turn out the same as the ones i was pastiching. I chose to use 2 columns firstly to keep it in line with the page i was pastiching and because i thought these would help me space my text and pictures effectively on the page.

Setting up front page

The reason for why I chose these measurements were because these were the same measurements as the front cover on my magazine that I was pastiching and I wanted to keep the same size as I felt it would suit my magazine. I also chose a transparent background in order for me to edit the page without the inclusion of a white or black background obstructing the page.

LO3 : Final house style designs

For my final house style designs i chose the colors Red, Black, White and Grey. I chose these colors as they complement one another well but they also stand out from one another allowing certain aspects of my magazine to stand out from a different aspect.

For my mast head design i looked at the mast head design in the Exposed magazine and saw that a bold font helped the title stand out on the cover. I chose the impact font as i felt that this best suited the design i wanted to go for. I chose a red font in order to help the mast head stand out from from the cover image. I used a stroke when editing my mast head i felt that this added more depth to the mast head and gave it more color variation. I also used a drop shadow in order to further give the mast head depth.
