The purpose of creating a draft of the magazine cover was firstly so that we have a reference to look at when we make our actual magazine cover. Secondly it helps us understand the conventions of a magazine cover and how to use them ourselves.
The reason we chose these measurements (21 x 29.5) for our front cover is because we want it to be the same size as a normal magazine front cover and the reason for the resolution is to get a high quality print image.

Here I am editing my mast head my double clicking on the layer on Photoshop. I then added a stroke to it in order to give the heading a black outline and to make it stand out.
Here I am changing the colour of my mast head to yellow in order to give the magazine a house style, for my house style I chose blue and yellow as these colours contrast and stand out from one another.
Here I have changed the mast head I did this by selecting the layer and double clicking. I then changed it from a stroke to a shadow as I believe his gave the image more depth and made it stand more.

While I was making my front cover I have learnt many things that helped me create this image for example, I learnt how to edit my mast head (title) by double clicking and adding effects to make the mast head seem more like a traditional magazine mast head. I also learnt the conventions of a traditional magazine cover such as mast head, main cover line and cover images. These allowed me to create a magazine that meted the basic conventions of what a traditional magazine should look like. I've also learnt how to rasterize on Photoshop so this will allow me to change colours on shapes in a much easier tool.
